On January 1, 2025, a new law will come into force in Germany that will require companies to receive electronic invoices. The aim of this measure is to reduce administrative burdens, digitize accounting and combat tax evasion more effectively. From that date, companies will have to receive and process invoices in a standardized electronic format, in accordance with the definitions of the EN-16931 standard.
The EN-19631 standard establishes the European standard that regulates the exchange of e-invoices in the EU. The standard was developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and defines the requirements for a uniform, structured electronic invoicing format.
EN-19631 defines the semantic data model of the e-invoice, i.e. it specifies which data must be included in an electronic invoice and how it should be structured.
The standard is based on the XML format and ensures that all relevant information is provided in a standardized way, regardless of the invoice issuer.
Based on the EN-16931 standard, various standards (e.g. ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, XRechnung) have been developed that represent the implementation of the standard.
The Factur-X – ZUGFeRD standard combines the best of both worlds. Factur-X – ZUGFeRD documents are so-called hybrid e-invoices that offer the familiar visualization of invoices and credit notes as a PDF/A long-term archiving format and machine-readable and EN-16931-compliant XML metadata.
Other standards, such as XRechnung, also meet the legal requirements, but in some cases these consist only of the machine-readable XML data.
365 business E-Invoice is based on the Microsoft E-Documents Framework and is directly integrated into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Through the extension of the Factur-X – ZUGFeRD invoice format and the Microsoft 365 mailbox integration, 365 business E-Invoice allows the introduction of e-invoices with low entry barriers and in the familiar environment and interface in which you have been working so far.
In addition, 365 business E-Invoice helps you to efficiently troubleshoot problems with the processing of incoming e-documents using the import wizard.
With 365 business E-Invoice, sending and receiving e-documents is easy and efficient.
